Their enthusiasm for the beginning of the school year is endless as students of Bishop Gorman High School grasp their dreams, take chances, and look out for new and exciting opportunities as the first bell rings.  There are positive highlights about being back at school that students really like.  Many are looking for different options in several clubs and activities.  Some just look forward to seeing their friends and fellow peers again.  “I look forward to meeting new people, learning new things, and new opportunities,” said Jayden Yeoman(Frosh).
Many other students like Jayden are also finding clubs and classes they’re interested in and  are looking to participate in.  For example Jana Sayson, also a freshman, who said she was interested in  broadcast media and being a part of the Gael’s theatre guild crew.  The essence of summer fades as this great new year gets started and especially for the freshmen who can find new beginnings around every corner.

Several other students explained what they liked about being back and what they want to do this year.  “I want to join photo club,” said Brittaney Myrda (Soph).  Myrda also said that she’s looking forward to trying out for Mock trial and going to homecoming.  Others like Brittaney also have school activities they look forward to. “I’m looking forward to sports and I’m going to join French club,” said Amy Lubawy (Soph).  Boredom is counteracted when taking part in clubs and  activities, making back-to-school a more preferable idea than summer.

Clubs and school activities are not the only things BGHS students are liking so far. They also have many classes and teachers that they really appreciate.  “I think school started off good for me this year because I like all my teachers and classes,” said Amy Lubawy.  “A class I’m really interested in is History, because it’s my first honors class,” Amy added.  Brittaney Myrda, who also found a liking for her World History class, added that another class she’s really interested in is Latin 2.  Some other students also picked out language classes as being a favorite class for them.   One of these students is Sandra Perez, a sophomore, who said, “I’m really interested in French 2 because I want to be trilingual.”
Many of these students enjoyed some ideas about being back at school, which might have seemed grueling at first, but in the end most found something they really enjoyed about being back.  “I don’t have time to be bored when I’m here,” explained Jana Sayson. “I like getting to see all of my friends, I love the teachers, and I like having lockers,” said Jayden Yeoman. Brittaney Myrda, who also liked seeing friends and having new teachers, included that she liked the fact that she was no longer the youngest at school anymore since she is now a sophomore.
Students should not be afraid of school, but embrace the new chances for change and become more confident in their work.  Some students expressed that they liked how the new school year started off with the ESPN football game at Gorman. Myrda also agreed that it was a great way to start off the year.

Whether they’re reveling about new clubs, sports, or even classes, students at Bishop Gorman are enjoying the setting of a new school year very much.  This year gives many students the chance to get better grades and have fun with friends and classmates.  Some are just looking for a chance to become more outgoing by meeting new people, such as Sandra Perez who looks forward to making new friends.  Others like Amy Lubawy are wanting to just chill with their best buddies.  However, academics will still always be on their minds and BGHS students are especially obliged to doing the best they can this year.

As great as the school year is turning out so far, there a many new changes some students look forward to the possibility of. Amy Lubawy said that she thought that it would be good if the school gave more recognition to other sports that aren’t as big here at BGHS such as the tennis and swim team.  In the end, being back for a new school year has been a blast.  As the year continues, students will take their dreams with them as they make a great future and many wonderful memories for themselves.
